Penistone Camera Club are members of the YPU. The YPU is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB), who promotes and helps clubs across the country providing lectures also providing day and weekend seminars on photography.
Shafton and District Photographic Society
Shafton and District Photographic Society meet on a Thursday evening at 8.00pm. Like Penistone Camera Club they encourage both novice and experienced photographers. They have a varied programme which runs throughout the year.
Penistone Show is run by the Penistone Agricultural Society, which is made up by volunteers. This annual show is held on the second Saturday of September. There are plenty of photographic opportunities as well as the Sheep, Cattle, Pigs & Goats there is Horse Jumping and Shire Horse Displays. Also there are numerous displays, craft stalls, trade stands and ring entertainment.
Penistone Footpath Runners and Athletic Club
The club meets every Tuesday & Thursday at 6.30pm at the Penistone Football Club. As well as doing runs within the area the club enters competitions doing fell, cross country and road races. The club also organisers the 10K road race which is held in conjunction with the Penistone Show. Great chances for you budding sports photographers. Just contact the club secretaries and they will be happy to give you the details of forthcoming races. (and remember it is only right to offer them some of your photographs).
