As previously discussed I decided that I needed to challenge myself in terms of my photography during 2024. I needed to move away from the random model shoot philosophy that had endured in previous years and the “shoot to order” nature of seeking to win the club Photographer of the Year title. although it comes with satisfaction and frustration in equal amounts it seems.
I think it’s always difficult when you go somewhere new to think of anything other than one-off images unless you have some kind of plan in mind.

Part 1 - The Book That Never Was
Weekend away with Nick and a visit to Chester Cathedral
Not a photographic project, but a printmaking retreat; and of course I took my camera!
One of the many rewarding things about this project, even though in the end it did not meet the standards for the ARPS, was the many things I learned during the process, and not just about what to do and what not to do in terms of photography!
Nick's weekend trip to Lincoln and a visit to one of the UKs best cathedrals
On a recent rail trip around Italy, Allison and I stopped overnight in Florence, staying near the old city centre which was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982.
My thoughts and observations on the fun evening at Penistone Camera Club organised by the “Only Girls Allowed” Group.
It’s often been said that the best camera is the one you have with you, and for most of us these days that will probably be our phone; after-all, who even thinks about leaving home without one?
It was late when I got to my hotel last night. I knew my room overlooked Waterloo station and the City of London, it was too black outside to photograph, so I set my alarm ready for a sunrise shoot.
I been visiting the Brick Lane area of London for the last few years while I’ve been in London on business. I often found myself wandering over to Brick Lane during my lunch hour and usually I had my camera with me.
